1520s German ‘Cranach’ Gown

Early 16th century German Renaissance dress made of black linen with bands of silk brocade. Worn over sleeveless linen chemise that laces up the sides. The cap, or Haube, is made of a lightweight gold silk taffeta. The front of the Haube is stitched to a band of linen tape that ties around the head, and a drawstring gathers the excess fullness up at the nape of the neck.

Patterns are self-drafted, and all sewing was done by hand.
